To search contacts for a contact, do the following:

  1. In SchoolMessenger, go to the System tab, Contacts sub-tab.
  2. Click on "Search for Person"
  3. Type in the student's last name, phone number (4027862321), student id number, or email address.
    1. Note: To get to a student's contact, you must go to the student first then at the bottom of the student you can click the contact.
  4. Click the Search button
  5. In the results, click the ID number of the contact to open it.
  6. Looking at the contact, can be confusing so let's break it down...
    1. In the #1 red box, we look to see if the contact has logged in using the app or web portal and changed/overrode their district settings.  If they did override the district settings then it is possible they unchecked a box needed to receive alerts.  To fix this, you will need to make it match what is shown in the gray checkboxes to the right.
    2. In the #2 red box, we look to confirm it doesn't say pending.  Blank is good! If it says pending then the parent needs to opt-in following these directions: https://www.district145.org/vnews/display.v/SEC/Parents%7CDistrict%20145%20Alerts found on the District website > Parents > District 145 Alerts.
  7. Done!
